Looking for ways to best utilize your land? Want to host small farm projects? The Piedmont Environmental Council and the Local Food Project at Airlie invite you to a special two-hour workshop on March 11th and 25th so you can explore the possibilities of leasing land to small farmers:
Participants will take part in creative exercises, research, and class discussions that will assess resources, determine goals and evaluate options. Hear from the owners and operators of Mount Vernon Farm and Waterpenny Farm in Rappahannock County, Wheatland Vegetable Farm and Mountain View Farm in Loudoun County [both featured in the Winter 2009 issue of The Piedmont Virginian], and Grazeland Dairy in the Shenandoah Valley and decide if one of their successful models might work for you.
The course will take place at Airlie in Warrenton on Wednesday, March 11th and 25th from 6:30-9pm. Visit Airlie’s website to sign up for this event (registration is $90).
