From the Rappahannock, For the Rappahannock
Hume, VA 22639 United States
From the Rappahannock, For the Rappahannock is a celebration of land and water conservation in the Rappahannock River watershed and the partnerships that help us succeed. Join Friends of the Rappahannock, The Piedmont Environmental Council, and the John Marshall Soil and Water Conservation District for a day at the iconic Marriott Ranch in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
We will have Rappahannock River oysters from the Oyster Company of Virginia, catered barbeque from Marriott Ranch, local wines and beers from the piedmont, live music, hay ride tours of the property and conservation practices, and more! With a back drop of spectacular mountain views, this is a working farm that the Rappahannock River flows directly through.
In the morning, we will be working with volunteers to plant trees and other vegetation in a riparian buffer along a stretch of a Rappahannock River tributary called Fiery Run. This conservation best management practice will provide wildlife habitat, decrease erosion and sedimentation, and help improve water quality. All attendees who join us for the restoration project are invited to join us for the celebration free or charge.
At 1:00pm we will be at the Marrtiott Pavillion with a wide range of food, drink, and activities. Children under 14 welcome at no charge.
Staff from a variety of conservation organizations will be available to answer questions and talk about conservation practices and cost share programs available in the region.

Airlie Hosts Brews & Barbecue with Old Bust Head
Warrenton, VA 20186 United States
Join us on Saturday, June 10 at 6 p.m. to kick off summer with a farm-to-table barbecue and craft beer from Old Bust Head Brewing Company.
The menu will include pork sausage sourced from Airlie’s own farm. Our 300-acre property has recently undergone a transformation back to its original heritage as a working farm with the reintroduction of Angus cattle, Berkshire pigs, chickens, and other livestock. Chef Hector Cruz and the culinary team will also be incorporating many other ingredients from our four-acre organic garden, which has been providing a steady supply of fresh produce and herbs for the property since 1998.
Old Bust Head Brewing Company and Airlie have collaborated to pick six craft beers that are uniquely suited for summer and expertly paired with the barbecue menu offerings.
This event will be held at Airlie’s Smokehouse, an ideal venue for a barbecue, with a large event tent, plenty of open, grassy space for lawn games, a lakeside fire pit and a Grill House outfitted with two Big Green Eggs.
Acoustic singer/songwriter Leon Rector will be performing original music and covers by The Beatles, The Doors, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jim Croce, Jimi Hendrix, Jack Johnson, Mac DeMarco, Otis Redding and others.
