Michael Clem Band Birthday Show at Jammin Java

Saturday, January 7, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
Jammin Java, 227 Maple Ave
Vienna, 22180

For the past twenty-five years, Michael Clem has been playing bass, singing and writing songs for the national touring act he co-founded, Eddie from Ohio. Over that time, EFO amassed a sizeable grassroots following, released nine CDs (all independently) & collected numerous Washington Area Music Association Awards. In the past seven years, with the band slowing down, Clem relocated from Northern Virginia to Charlottesville, VA where he’s established quite a foothold in its vibrant musical scene, from session work to bluegrass gigs to forming his own acoustic trio.

Ten years after his first solo album, Clem released his better-late-than-never sophomore album “Fifty Clementines” of thirteen previously unreleased songs in Jan 2016.
Recorded at the Charlottesville JLM Studios and co-produced with James McLaughlin, Clem brought in 30 friends from all over Virginia – among them: Ellis Paul, Terri Allard, Katherine Caine, Rusty Speidel – to contribute their amazing talents, to this unique and purely CLEM album.

Clem debuted FIFTY CLEMENTINES in two sold out shows. And now…The Special Birthday Shows are happenin’ again.
On Jan 7, they will perform at Jammin Java in Vienna.

“Fifty Clementines…it’s classic Clem – variety of styles, stories, and
instruments – each song offering its own unique blend of
instrumentation.” -Julie Murphy Wells, lead singer of Eddie from Ohio

Farm & Fun Time ft. Luke Bell, The Farmer & Adele

Thursday, January 12, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Birthplace of Country Music Museum, 520 Birthplace of Country Music Way
Bristol, 24201

According to RollingStone, Wyoming native Luke Bell “plays classic honky-tonk with a wink and a yodel that summons the sleeping ghosts of country better than any voodoo spell ever could.”

Nashville’s The Farmer & Adele bring country-western cowboy swing and high lonesome together in a way that hearkens back to the heyday of Gene Autry and Roy Rogers.

Hosted by Kris Truelsen and featuring live advertisements written by house band Bill & the Belles, the program also features the Appalachian Sustainable Development Farm Report with Corbin Hayslett, an heirloom recipe segment that’s more storytelling than instruction, and much more!

Radio Bristol Presents: Farm & Fun Time is a revival of WCYB radio’s Farm & Fun Time show which broadcast live from a studio inside the General Shelby Hotel in downtown Bristol. In the 1940s through the early 1960s Farm & Fun Time was an important program in the history of early bluegrass music and helped to establish the careers of legendary performers including Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, the Stanley Brothers, Jim and Jesse McReynolds, Mac Wiseman, and many more.

The Music of Simon & Garfunkel Performed by Swearingen & Kelli

Friday, January 13, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
The Barns at Rose Hill, 95 Chalmers Court
Berryville, VA 22611 United States

Swearingen & Kelli recreate the music, memories and magic of the most famous folk-rock duo of our time, Simon and Garfunkel.

AJ Swearingen has been performing this music for twenty years with mastery of Paul Simon’s intricate guitar playing. His deep baritone blends perfectly against Jayne Kelli’s angelic vocals, which invoke a true sound in the spirit of Art Garfunkel. The duo has been performing music together since 2010. Together and separately they have shared the stage with Kenny Rogers, Crystal Gayle, Livingston Taylor, John McCutcheon and many more.

Two voices in perfect harmony balanced against one acoustic guitar delivers a true tribute to the sound of the 1960’s Greenwich Village, NY coffeehouse performances.
