The popular concerts are scheduled on Saturday evenings throughout the summer. Bring your chairs, blankets, and picnics to enjoy these concerts with your friends and neighbors!

the Virginia Commission for the Arts.

Celebrate the 4th of July at Keswick Vineyards with some great Red & White Virginia wines and Bluegrass music performed by local band East of Afton! Come hungry because we will have some great food choices available for you to purchase. Spice Sea Gourmet will be here serving up their delicious seafood selections, and The Pie Guy will be bringing a taste of Australia to our celebration with their savory and sweet pies!

Team Penning Cattle/Horse Practice Horse enthusiasts are invited to watch or ride in the family friendly team penning practices every Friday night (weather permitting) at Andora Farm. Sign-ups start at 6 p.m. and runs start at 7 p.m. No experience needed, Admission is free (No charge for the public to watch), and if you would like to ride it is $5 per run per rider. Ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. for Lake Pelham Adventures, a partnership with the Town of Culpeper and The Ole Country Store and Bakery. Located off Route 29 south of Culpeper. Canoe, kayak and paddleboard rentals available. Open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Working Woods Walk at James Madison’s Montpelier
Held from 2-4 p.m. 11407 Constitution Highway, Montpelier Station, Virginia. Explore beyond the Mansion and the lawn to the woods of Montpelier. Venture deep into the Montpelier Demonstration Forest on a two-hour hike, and experience the magnificent wildflower meadow teeming with butterflies and other pollinators. Led by Virginia Master Naturalists. $10/person, or $5 with admission to the Mansion tour; children under 6 years old are free. The tour begins at 2 p.m. at the Visitor Center. It all happens from 3 to 6 p.m. Yowell Meadow Park basketball courts will be the site for a Pump Track demonstration by American Ramp Company. The track is unique because it is portable. Once the Pump Track is set up, it will be open to all ages and skill levels, so come on by and give it a whirl. More info at 540-727-3412
Sunset Paddle
Join Friends of the Rappahannock (FOR) for a Sunset Paddle on the Rappahannock River. Float in kayaks from Old Mill Park to City Dock and learn about local ecology and how the river has influenced American history. FOR provides kayaks and safety gear. The minimum age is 12 years and some paddling experience is helpful. The cost is $35 individual/ $105 per family of four ($28/$84 for FOR members). Meet at the Rappahannock County Park at 9 a.m. for sign-in and instructions. Carpool with count leaders to various locations within the county to conduct butterfly census. No prior experience necessary. Bring insect and sun protection and water. Wear sturdy footwear and bring binoculars if you have them. Open to all. Event fee is $5, payable at sign-in. The PSO presents Symphonic Blockbusters
Back by popular demand, the National Sporting Library and Museum is hosting its Open Late Series featuring great music, local wine, and Virginia craft beer on the fourth Friday of April-September 2016. July will feature the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra. The Museum will be open until 8:00 pm. So grab your friends, a picnic blanket, and relax in the village! The concert is free and open to the public

Marsh Madness Paddle
Join Friends of the Rappahannock (FOR) on an adventurous exploration of tidal marsh ecology, launching in kayaks from Hopyard Landing in King George County. As the tide comes in, trip leader Elysa Mills from FOR and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation will lead a discussion on marsh habitat, plants and wildlife. Meet at Hopyard Landing at 8 a.m. The trip ends at noon. Bring lunch, lots of water, and sunscreen. Minimum age is 12. Back up date is the next day. $40 indiv/$120 family ($32/$96 for FOR members).

Moonlight Paddle on Lake Pelham
Come join Culpeper County Parks and Recreation for an evening of paddling, snacks, and sightseeing. You’ll enjoy a moonlit evening of friends and paddling and views that you normally can’t experience here. Wear appropriate attire and bring a change of clothes just in case. Boat permit fees will be waived for this event. Glow sticks will be provided as well as some minor refreshments, participants may bring their own refreshments but alcohol is not allowed. A portion of the registration fees will be donated to Richardsville Water Rescue Team who will also be on site. Bring your own canoe, kayak or paddleboard and remember life jackets are required for every person participating. Itinerary and more details available online.
