Visual Magic – The Art of Four Picture Book Illustrators
September 13 – October 26
Visual Magic features four talented children’s book illustrators: Janet Stoeke, Carol Schwartz, Susan Roth, and Jennifer O’Connell. The artists have contributed to multiple children’s publications, and their crisp dynamic images bring life to the stories. They work with various mediums, including gouache, Photoshop, and even collage to express topics that range from science and nature to culture and history!

Greater Manassas/Prince William County sponsors theatrical productions for children and adults, teaches arts classes, promotes visual arts and provides community outreach programs for local youth. Founded in 1984 by a group of artists and art lovers, the Center aims to enrich the quality of life in the Northern Virginia suburbs through arts performance and education. A theater, an art gallery and classrooms are located in the historic Candy Factory building in Old Town Manassas, at 9419 Battle Street.

Arts in the Village Gallery announces a very special Artists’ Reception for Loudoun Art Council’s October Installation: 30 Years of Vision Exhibit. The Reception will be hosted at the AitV Gallery on October 14th from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. and will feature two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork from local artists from all over Loudoun County. Join us to experience a variety of mediums including paintings, photography, printmaking, pottery and more at this extraordinary show!
The public is invited to join us for live jazz by Maddy Vencil and Caleb Nei and refreshments at the reception. Artists, friends and family are encouraged to attend the reception, where the artists’ awards will be announced! The exhibit celebrates the 30 years of LAC support for the arts, as well as Arts in the Village Gallery’s five years as Leesburg’s only cooperative art gallery And will be on display the whole month of October.

Northside Library presents BozART Fine Arts Collective from October 2 to 31st, hours 12-5 daily, 705 W. Rio Rd. The show, entitled “Fall Favorites: A Multimedia Art Exhibit,” represents the gamut of art forms created by this cooperative of local artists: oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, photography, collage and ceramic. The group of artists has been exhibiting together since the closure of its gallery on the downtown mall in 2014. They meet regularly, organize and present multiple shows per years, each with a theme and striving for current art. New artists are welcome. The Environmental & Equestrian Tradition at Montpelier
Kat Imhoff, President of The Montpelier Foundation, will discuss how James Madison, the 4th President of the United States and “Father of the Constitution, may also be regarded as the “forgotten father of American environmentalism.” Montpelier is home to some of the only “old-growth” forest on the east coast—200 acres of unspoiled forest protected as part of over 800 acres of conservation and historic easements at Montpelier. Nearly a century after Madison’s speech about environmental protection, a young lady, often referred to as a “tomboy” because of her penchant for the outdoors, Marion duPont Scott took over the stewardship of Montpelier. She built an equestrian tradition that still flourishes—including the annual steeplechase races that have been held at Montpelier since 1934, ongoing horse training operations.
Today, The Montpelier Foundation honors Madison’s environmental leadership as well as the rich equestrian heritage of the property. Part of this vision is restoring, to the best of our ability, the historic landscape that Madison designed as part of his vision for the landscape.
