Mount Vernon celebrates the autumn season with Fall Harvest Family Days! The entire family enjoys autumn activities including wagon rides, wheat treading in the 16-sided barn, 18th-century dancing demonstrations, a straw bale maze, farrier (blacksmithing) demonstrations, apple-roasting, corn husk dolls demonstrations and early-American games and music.

Come trick-or-treat at Mount Vernon! Back by popular demand, the estate will again open its gates for Halloween fun and spook-tacular activities.
Participate in a special scavenger hunt, take a wagon ride on the 12-acre field, and create a boo-tiful Halloween craft in this unforgettable evening.
Come and see wool carding, spinning, and fish net making in the historic area before greeting “Martha Washington” on the piazza of the Mansion. In order to burn off all the extra excitement, try 18th-century dancing in the upper garden. Historic chocolate-making demonstrations and chocolate tastings will take place.
A children’s costume parade around the Mansion will begin at 5 p.m. and prizes will be awarded for most fang-tastic “George” and “Martha” costumes! Trick-or-Treating at Mount Vernon takes place rain or shine.

6th Annual Catoctin Holiday Art Tour

Join nearly two dozen artists in their Lovettsville area studios on November 12 and 13 for the sixth annual Catoctin Holiday Art Tour: a weekend of beautiful scenery, friendly folks, and local art.
This relaxing driving tour leads visitors down some of western Loudoun’s prettiest country roads, to homes and studios in the thriving artists’ community of Lovettsville.
Visitors meet the artists where they work and have the opportunity to buy affordable art and gifts in advance of the holiday shopping rush.
Many studios feature food and wine from local businesses as well. Small enough to do in an afternoon, with art of a caliber to merit a day trip from DC.

On the final stop of the Mansion tour, guests will hear about Washingtons’ holiday cooking and see a reproduction of Martha’s Great Cake. “Mrs. Washington” and Aladdin the Christmas camel will also be on site.

Christmas in Middleburg
The festivities begin at 8:30 a.m., with Breakfast with Santa at Middleburg Community Charter School. At 11 a.m. the Middleburg Hunt takes to the streets creating a spectacular sight as approximately 100 horses, riders in red coats and dozens of hounds come through the town. The Middleburg Christmas Parade begins at 2 p.m. as spectators line the sidewalks along Washington Street (Route 50) to watch as a unique assortment of floats, troops and musical groups march by in a mile-long parade. The Christmas in Middleburg Craft Show will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Middleburg Community Center. A juried selection of artists will have handmade and original designs for purchase. Mistletoe Market
The Culpeper Recreation Club will host the second annual Mistletoe Market at the Rec Club at 13163 Recreation Road, Culpeper from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Photos with Santa Claus, more than 30-plus vendors, crafts, massages by Healing Hands, wine tasting by Gadino Cellars, face painting, food and family fun. Christmas Concert and Open House
Evergreen Shade Christmas Concert at Christ Church in Brandy Station followed by a Holiday Open House at the Graffiti House. Starts at 2 p.m. Mrs. Anne Howard and Dr. John Tole perform as Evergreen Shade. The church is located at 14586 Alanthus Rd. in Brandy Station. The Christ Episcopal Church is the continuation of the St. James Church which was totally dismantled during the encampment of Union troops in the winter of 1863-64. Christmas in Little Washington
The 12th annual Christmas in Little Washington celebration includes a parade (which starts at 1:30), local and regional food vendors and an artisan market from 11 to 4 p.m. Parade features the Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, the Rappahannock County High School Marching Band, antique cars, local fire and rescue trucks and Santa Claus. Holiday Choral Concert
“The Spotsylvanians” a 70 voice chorus from the Fredericksburg area will be performing “Songs of the Season” at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of Culpeper Baptist Church, 318 S. West Street. They are under the direction of Culpeper native Alex Smith. The Sanctuary and Handbell Choirs from Culpeper Baptist will also perform. The concert is free and open to the public. American Festival Pops Orchestra “Holiday Pops: Songs of the Season”

The American Festival Pops Orchestra comes home for Christmas with its annual decking of Merchant Hall where the ensemble fills the venue with musical merriment, spreading holiday cheer to audiences of all ages. Join us for this popular family tradition, complete with holiday musical favorites and a lively carol sing-along, always an audience favorite. Conducted by founder and Artistic Director Anthony Maiello, this full pops orchestra, comprising the most accomplished musicians from the metro area, comes together to perform the best of the season including Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride,” “Christmas Festival,” and other treasured classics.
