Wild & Scenic Film Festival in Culpeper
Lights! Camera! Adventure! Friends of the Rappahannock’s (FOR) 5th Annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival comes to the Rappahannock headwaters on Sunday, April 3, at the Daniel Technology Center on the Germanna Community College campus in Culpeper. Doors open at noon and the films run from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. FOR is a non-profit, watershed advocacy group in its 31st year of protecting the Rappahannock River, from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Chesapeake Bay. Festival tickets are $10 in advance and $5 for students. Special prices are available with the purchase of an FOR membership. Tickets can be purchased online at www.riverfriends.org.

Contemplative Yoga in Nature

The Last Dragons Film Fest
The Last Dragons is one of 20 films in The Wild & Scenic Film Festival, set for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Germanna Community College’s Daniel Technology Center, showcases a different kind of action movie: environmental action. Adventurers who love spending time outdoors share their passion on film as they bike, climb or paddle across some of the world’s most beautiful places. Doors open at noon. Part of Germanna Presents! Poetry Reading at Culpeper County Library
In celebration of National Poetry month please join the Friends of the Culpeper County Library on Sunday, April 3 at 2 p.m. to listen to our own local poets. Dr. David Sam will be sharing the stage with the poets from the Windmore Foundation of the Arts as poets new and old take to the stage to share their craft. Featured poets for the day from the Windmore Writers are Gary Misch, Laurel Van Horn, Fran Cecere, Rose Jacob, Nancy Scot, Gwen Monahan, and Pennie Patterson. Windmore will have two Windmore Writers Anthologies available for sale. Dr. Sam’s Memories in Clay, Dreams of Wolves will also be available for sale and autographing.
Five Tales and a Tour: Greengarden, Historic Mosby Safe House
Come visit one of the most beautiful and historic homes in the Mosby Heritage Area. The Mosby Heritage Area Association is partnering with the Gettysburg Foundation to open historic Greengarden to the public on Sunday, April 3.
This program will begin at Buchanan Hall outside of Upperville. Stories featuring the cavalry Battles of Aldie, Middleburg, and Upperville, June 17-21, 1863, and Greengarden’s role as a safe house for Mosby’s Rangers will be shared before caravanning over to the home, located at 22439 Greengarden Road outside of Upperville.
At Greengarden, a National Historic Register site that dates from 1833, you’ll be able to tour the historic antebellum home. Additionally, you’ll get to see a rarity in the heritage area, a “hidey hole” used by Mosby’s men for a quick escape.

Film Festival at Little Washington

Tickets are on sale now for all events at the second annual Film Festival at Little Washington. This will be an exciting weekend of innovative, entertaining, and thought-provoking films by Virginia’s independent filmmakers.
Noted for its vibrant arts community, scenic Rappahannock County, Virginia, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is home to many professional and emerging filmmakers. The 2016 Film Festival will feature films that celebrate the filmmaking talent in our beautiful state.
Films will be shown Friday night through Sunday afternoon at the charming Theatre at Washington, VA. Filmmakers will conduct Q&As, and mingle over coffee, wine, and food at local eateries.
