Intro to Hand Coloring Photos with Pastel
This workshop will explore the use of pastels to create a turn of the century look. Adding that chalk texture to your print turns your image into a mixed media piece of art. You will learn the various ways to apply the pastels on hot and cold press art papers. You will practice on images printed for hand coloring, while learning techniques on layering pastels and blending color. It is a relaxing method which allows you to experience the joy of coloring.

Life is busy. Things don’t always go right. Essential oils can be incredibly uplifting for those needing emotional support. Emotional unrest can show up as panic attacks, hyper vigilance, a tendency to dislike loud noises, chronic stress, sleep problems and other life-limiting occurrences. Many people dealing with emotional concerns have found some reprieve from anxious feelings with essential oils. Free event taught by Theresa Dalman. (MK2 Diffusion, 1991) A renowned artist (Michel Piccoli) attempted to create his definitive painting of the female form with his wife as his muse. Not finding his voice, he stopped painting altogether. Now, ten years later and at the age of 60, he attempts to finish the art piece with a new muse. Legendary Japanese director Akira Kurosawa named “La belle noiseuse” as one of his two favorite films made in the 1990s, calling it both the best filmed display of a struggle of an artist doing his craft and a cinematic piece he would have liked to direct himself. This rare screening of Jacques Rivette’s four-hour masterpiece will be presented un-cut with an intermission and on 35mm film. The film won the Grand Prix and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the 1991 Cannes Film Festival. It is in French and English with English subtitles. Not rated, but contains adult subject matter. Free, at the Library of Congress Packard Campus Theater located at 19053 Mt. Pony Rd. in Culpeper, VA. No reservations required. For more information, call 202-707- 9994.
