Discover the pleasure of eating locally at a special event at historic Long Branch Farm on May 18th. Located in Millwood at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the manor house and farm dates from the 18th century, when a young George Washington helped survey the property and Robert “King” Carter constructed an elegant estate following the architectural principles of the U.S. Capitol’s architect. What a beautiful setting for an event celebrating sustainable agriculture and the locavore movement. From 3-6 pm on May 18th, a panel of four speakers– including Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm, Susie Hass of Ayrshire Farm, Sally Bolton of Vineyard Nursery, and David Hagedorn of The Washington Post— will discuss the benefits of growing, cooking, and enjoying local food. “Farm to Fork” is priced from $45 per person, and includes a food and wine reception following the panel. With local products, of course!
