Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day, honoring our country’s war veterans, and as the Virginia Dept. of Tourism points out, “Virginia’s rich military history and iconic sites make the state a moving destination to honor those who fought for freedom.” Renew your sense of patriotism by checking out our memorials, battlefields (including Manassas), and museums. At Ash Lawn-Highland, home of Revolutionary War Veteran and U.S. President James Monroe (pictured at right), military personnel and vets are admitted free all day. The same goes at the recently renovated Montpelier, which will offer free admission for those who are serving (or have served) in the U.S. Armed Forces.
