One of our favorite events of the year is the Virginia Festival of the Book held in Charlottesville. Taking place from March 18-22, the 15th annual festival honors book culture and promotes reading and literacy. These five days of mostly free literary events are open to the public. We aren’t alone; local bloggers have been gearing up for months now. From “Virginia History in Prose and Poetry” to “Crime Wave: Thrills and Chills,” there are a plethora of fascinating events with celebrated authors. The entire schedule can be found here. Keep in mind that there are some ticketed events. We highly recommend acting fast to nab tickets to “Another Music, An Evening with Rita Boyd and Boyd Tinsley” at the Paramount Theater on Friday, March 20th:
Join us as Rita Dove launches her new book, Sonata Mulattica, with violinist Boyd Tinsley of the Dave Matthews Band. Discover the life of 19th century Euro-African violinist George Bridgetower in poetry, music, and conversation.
