Meet General Robert E. Lee, General Stonewall Jackson, Colonel John Mosby and other figures from the past at this Saturday’s Warrenton-Fauquier Heritage Day to be held in Old Town Warrenton beginning at 10 a.m. Rain or shine, there is something for everyone.
Scheduled activities and exhibits include a gold mining and panning demonstration, an 1860’s field war hospital, tours of Brentmoor (The Spilman Mosby House), the Old Jail Museum, the Liberty Heritage Museum and others. Noted historians scheduled to speak include James G. Flanagan who will discuss the significance of the Rappahannock River in the Civil War; John Toler who will speak on Fauquier Families Answering the Call, 1917 – 2007; and Marc Leepson who will discuss the 1864 Confederate Invasion of Washington.
Among the many other activities of the day will be a 45-minute tour of the trees in Old Town Warrenton given by the Master Gardeners of Virginia as well as tours of the Warrenton Caboose and a track tool demonstrations both conducted by the Friends of the Warrenton Caboose.
Other special events include presentations by the Regency Dancers, dulcimer players, and an aerial appearance of the Flying Circus.
