I captured “Impression de l’érable,” or “Maple Impression” on a warm Thanksgiving Day in 2011 on the edge of the creek behind my house just as the sun was setting. Our section of the creek, called Town Run, winds through our 200 acres of preserved land in southern Fauquier County. I included this photo as one of 15 photos that made up my college senior art show thesis exhibit at Bridgewater College. The photos were exhibited from April 30 to May 12, 2012. Several people have told me this photo resembles one of Claude Monet’s Impressionistic paintings. I took this photo with my Canon Rebel XTi DSLR camera.

Cassandra Brown is a local photographer who, over the next few weeks, will be posting samples of her photography from her recent senior art show thesis exhibit at Bridgewater College. The exhibit ran from April 30 to May 12, 2012. Cassandra was inspired to focus on the reflections of trees in rivers and creeks around the Harrisonburg and Piedmont area.
