The new, updated third edition of The Touring Guide to Loudoun, Virginia: DC’s Wine Country® has been published, printed and released. Loudoun County has worked very hard to make this third edition better than ever, and more user friendly. There is itinerary based information on wineries, destination restaurants, and local favorite dining suggestions through Loudoun County. The publication also highlights breweries and a distillery, twenty local dining favorites, food and wine events, and more!
Loudoun County is a very busy place that has more than 20 wineries through five distinct clusters. These clusters are similar to the vines constantly growing. With all the wine tasting it is important to eat, and Loudoun has some amazing restaurants that should not be missed. There is a great emphasis on Local and Fresh Food, and the chefs take such great pride in their cuisine. The Touring Guide also features destination dining locations. Destination Dining, defined by the International Culinary Tourism Association as “restaurants that are also interesting, different, or special that people travel just to eat there.” There were nine restaurants selected under the Loudoun Destination Restaurant Program that are featured in the guide. All nine restaurants were highly rated in six criteria including providing a quality and unique experience, create a cultural and/or authentic experience, utilize locally grown products, being a local favorite, and serve Loudoun wine. Of course Loudoun wants you to come back again and again, and with the unique experience that you will have in Loudoun you will also have the opportunity to WIN a weekend in Wine Country! When you visit multiple wineries simply have your passport stamped at five of the participating 22 wineries. When you send in your stamped passport you are eligible to win the grand prize: a 2-night’s stay at The Goodstone Inn & Estate outside Middleburg, along with a $100 resort credit for dinner at their Destination Restaurant, and a full breakfast and afternoon tea. The Passport Program continues through December 31, 2010.
