Pause for a moment and look past the surface of this photo. Can you see the varying layers of the tree reflection and clouds lying below the surface? What about the leaves lying on the surface? One of the ideas that sparked my photo exhibit theme was giving people a complex photo to ponder about. I wanted to make people stop and really examine my photographs, to search for the varying elements included in each of them. Most of the time, I find that people are too busy to spend time in nature. Through this photo I entitled, “Maple Pool,” I hope you can ponder and appreciate nature. I hope you can stop and look at the natural, complex beauty that surrounds you more closely throughout your day.

The exhibit ran from April 30 to May 12, 2012. Cassandra was inspired to focus on the reflections of trees in rivers and creeks around the Harrisonburg and Piedmont area.
