Mary Watson has joined Cookology! , Loudoun County’s newest cooking school. Mary is the face of Virginia Wine and a highly regarded sommelier. She brings to Cookology passion, knowledge and her 22 Wine Spectator awards. Cooking classes, newly found culinary skills, and wine pairing, a true natural.
Mary will be at Cookology with a variety of wine classes and also offer a monthly Wine Club. A sure to be standout is a class called “Flight Night”.
A flight tasting involves several small portions of wine that are the same in some way. It could be the same type of grape, country or region, vineyard or method of production that is being discussed. The tasting involves sensory examination and evaluation of the wine, exploring perceived flavors, aromas and general characteristics of the wine. Offered from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday evenings, participants will be able to enjoy a relaxing tasting. The cost per person is a $12 per flight.
While Cookology is about food, Mary will be an active participant in many of the cooking classes to help spice up the class.
“While I do enjoy a nice glass of wine by itself, it is even more fun to have the participants tasting wine while they are cooking and after they have prepared their meal,” said Watson. “I’m thrilled to be a part of Cookology and expanding on something that I have been passionate about for many years.”
The popular “Flight Night” classes promise to sell out early. Cookology is located at the Dulles Town Center Mall on the first floor, and is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 9:30 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 7:00 pm. or call (703) 433-1909.
