Snag a bargain on stunning works when local artist Kathryn Wagner hosts her first-ever open studio sale on April 18 and 19 in her gallery space at McGuffey Art Center. The fine art photographer will be offering a series of three themed events over the course of the weekend, plus discounts on works available to purchase. Here’s the breakdown: Saturday, noon – 3 pm: family-friendly activities; 7-10 pm: dressier evening event; Sunday: a brunch menu will be available from noon- 5 pm.
A Charlottesville native, Wagner draws inspiration from time spent traveling Europe and the Caribbean while studying photography and film at Virginia Commonwealth University; she is interested in portraying concepts of space, human relationship, and perception in her images. Wagner’s work embraces a harmonic sense of happenstance, depicting not only the natural world but also ephemeral, evocative events and scenes such as kite flying and sunsets. Her work has been shown in Richmond, London, and New York City as well as McGuffey, where she has been a member since July 2008. A contributor to ArtKlatch blog, Wagner also teaches short courses on digital photography through the University of Virginia’s University Programs Council and her own studio.
