As proud Virginians are well aware, the state has produced more U.S. presidents than any other state. Virginia-born presidents total eight: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor and Woodrow Wilson. With President’s Day fast approaching, you may be in the mood to check out some historic places frequented by a president. (Here’s a nifty list of sites associated with each prez.) One of the best places to partake in said sight-seeing is Charlottesville. Keswick Hall, the marvelous country estate managed by Orient-Express Hotels and Resorts, has designed a package so that you can explore the presidential environs in a majestic setting beneath the Blue Ridge Mountains. Priced from $355, the President’s Day Package includes two nights accommodation, two three-course dinners for two, daily Continental breakfast for two, and complimentary passes to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, James Madison’s Montpelier, and James Monroe’s Ash Lawn.
