No surprise to us, but the Governor just announced that wine sales continue to surpass prior record years: A 13% increase in overall sales for 2010 over 2009! The figures validate the strength of the industry and what we see as continual growth in the wine-growing regions of the Piedmont.
The announcement comes on the heels of the upcoming celebratory month of wine in the state as October kicks off harvest celebrations with its designation as “Wine Month.” The announcement supports what we see as a growing agricultural spirit in the state and recognition from both domestic and international wine connoisseurs for the very fine bottles.
If it’s a festival you want to attend, then this weekend’s 10th Annual Norton Wine and Bluegrass Festival at Chrysalis Vineyards may be the perfect introduction. Tickets necessary.
If there are wineries you have not yet visited, now is a perfect time to introduce yourself to their wines and help them celebrate another record year. So many wineries; so many opportunities. It’s an economically sound decision!
