As we head to the Memorial Day holiday, we are psyched with the bounty of possibilities. Here’s a little teaser so you can start your planning. We will revisit the schedule opportunities as the week goes on.
Let’s start sweet: How about the Strawberry Jubilee at Great Country Farms in Bluemont. This is a a three-day (May 29, 30, 31) food and wine feast with hayrides to the u-pick strawberry fields. These tasty morsels have been grown free of chemical pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.
There’s live music and even a daily pie eating contest. Some of the foods for sale include BBQ, strawberry shortcake, and chocolate dipped strawberries. Do I have your attention yet? OK, one more teaser: Strawberry wine tastings daily from Bluemont Vineyards.
If you want to pick the berries, they suggest you come early as the fields prove a popular Festival activity. The Farm opens at 9A for the ripe, sweet, berry taste of summer.
Enjoy.
