This is the time of year that I start thinking about my kitchen, and how desperately I need a remodel, then I get overwhelmed and just block it out for another year! It is actually Kitchen and Bath Month, what a surprise, and just how do you celebrate? Start by getting organized, you will realize just what you use and don’t use, and how many open containers of 10x sugar does one really need. Get those cabinets cleaned out and start planning for the holiday meals. This will make entertaining more enjoyable for you and your guests.
I have my notes of what I want and plans of how I am going to be able to afford it and just when I would like it done.
I love to bake gifts for the holidays, and make wonderful soups on chilly days, but really what do I want my ‘dream kitchen to be?’ I think it is a mix between Ina Garten’s ‘Barn’ and Alton Browns ‘Lab’, and how do I pull that off in my 1980’s split level? I call in the professionals! Kurt from Heritage Cabinet Supply in Old Town Warrenton has come out with a great little check list for your kitchen in his latest newsletter. It is a great way to think about what I want from my kitchen and just where to start.
Kurt says; If you’re planning a kitchen or bath renovation, remember that what you don’t see is just as important as what you do see for a functional and well-organized space. In both areas, you generally have a routine, and it’s important to have everything you need for each task close at hand. Both rooms can be clutter magnets, but with some up-front planning you can streamline these work spaces to make your routine more efficient and eliminate clutter.
