We’re big fans of the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy (have you ever checked out their “Gardening for Wildlife” plant database? Enough said.) A local all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to preserving healthy wildlife habitats throughout Loudoun County, the LWC holds free educational events, sponsors wildlife restoration programs, and publishes the Habitat Herald. And get this– You can now follow the LWC on Twitter and get quick reports from the field on wildlife encounters, and more! Upcoming events of interest include a tree planting restoration project on Saturday, November 15 at the Phillips Farm at 9 am, and a walk through the Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve with local plant ecologist Dr. Emily Southgate (Saturday at 1 pm). Be sure to check out the LWC’s beautiful blog.
