The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) has launched a new interactive web site, Virginia Grown. Now with a couple of clicks you can easily find Virginia Grown fruits, vegetables, nursery products and more. This new site, , replaces a site that has been in use for years but was not interactive. This site is great for both residents of the the Commonwealth and people looking to travel through the state. You will be able to find a huge array of items exactly in the area you are willing to travel. There is even a mapping function and directions door to door, how easy is that? Just type in peaches in Fauquier County and then pack up the car, you are on the way! Not only is this site good for the consumers, but the farmers and producers are also able to post their crops seasonally. http://www.vdacs.virginia.gov/vagrown/
“Many people are surprised at the extensive product listings,” said Commissioner Haymore, “but diversity is the hallmark of Virginia agriculture. We have a tremendous array of agricultural products, and this new site showcases them in a way we’ve not done before. With an increased consumer interest in buying locally-grown products, VirginiaGrown.com fits the needs of today’s busy shoppers at the same time it supports Virginia’s largest industry, agriculture.”
