The May issue of Consumer Reports ranks grocery stores and gives Wegmans perfect marks for service, perishables, and cleanliness. It did not rank as high for price, but still earned an impressive overall score of 87 out of 100. The results were gleaned from over 30,000 respondents who were asked for their opinions about shopping in supermarkets, super centers, or warehouse clubs during the past year. Trader Joe’s with a more limited presence in the Piedmont also received favorable comments as a satisfying venue for shopping.
Interestingly, earlier this year in its annual grocery survey Washington Consumers’ Checkbook, gave Wegmans high marks for its prices.
Good news for our region: Wegmans currently has four stores with a fifth to open this Fall in Leesburg. Hopefully, more Trader Joe’s will find their way into our significant demographic.
It’s hard to find everything at one store, but we’re lucky to have grocers that understand price and quality matter.
