Experience the magic of nightfall on the river during Friends of the Rappahannock’s July 27 Thunder Moon Paddle, from Old Mill Park to City Dock. We’ll talk about river ecology, FOR’s mission, and ways the river influenced local history. Minimum age is 12 years and some paddling experience is helpful. Meet at City Dock at 7 p.m. for a shuttle to Old Mill Park. We’ll be back at City Dock by 10 p.m.

Middleburg, the quaint historic town nestled in Virginia’s horse country, is cleaning out its closets and storage areas and moving onto the sidewalks, August 3-5 for the 12th annual Summer Sidewalk Sale. The sale, sponsored by the Middleburg branch of Sonabank, the Town of Middleburg and the Middleburg Business and Professional Association, will be held on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday as posted by shops. Look for balloons outside participating shops and restaurants!

The Birthplace of Country Music proudly presents a very special 1927 Society Concert experience with The Malpass Brothers.The 1927 Society Concert Series is an intimate concert experience set in the “acoustically perfect” Performance Theater at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum. It’s more than a night of music, it’s a very personal event with some of the most renowned roots music artists performing today. Guests are asked to arrive promptly at 6:00 p.m. to enjoy catering and adult beverages (for ages 21+ with valid ID) before the show, included with ticket.

With a career spanning decades and a dozen albums with Lowen & Navarro, Dan Navarro has just released his first true studio-recorded solo album, “Shed My Skin.” Navarro is perhaps best known as songwriter for artists as diverse as Jackson Browne, The Bangles, Keb’ Mo’ and Pat Benatar (the Grammy-nominated classic “We Belong”) to name a few. A multi-talented performer, Dan is a singer, a songwriter and a voice actor in major motion pictures, television series, & commercials. His songs are rich with insight and life experience, delivered straight-up, with honesty, grace and heart, in his moving and expressive baritone voice.

Adventure Days is a half-day summer camp program for toddlers and young
children ages 3-6.

This program is designed for children who are fully
potty-trained and can participate without their parents present.

There are 4 days available for registration:
August 13 & 14 9am – 12pm Ages 3 – 4
August 15 & 16 9am – 12pm Ages 5 – 6

Museum staff will be on hand to supervise all Explorers. Parents are encouraged to drop off and pick up their children at the designated times.

Art From The Heart is a fundraising event to support Dandelion Meadow www.dandelionmeadow.org . The focus in on women with abuse, addiction, and human trafficking issues. HIYH is a program for visitors of all ages who are blind or have low vision. HIYH is an opportunity to interact with the collections through tactile exploration of selected objects, and through verbal description, tactile graphics, and other materials for artifacts that cannot be touched. Trained Museum volunteers and Visitor Services staff lead these events.
