Look Closer at Monticello
Monticello, 931 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy, Charlottesville, VA | 9am – 5pm
In conjunction with national Juneteenth events, Monticello will unveil exhibitions and newly restored spaces, including the opening of the South Wing and Sally Hemings exhibit. This landmark conclusion of a major restoration initiative at Monticello will also commemorate 25 years of the Getting Word oral history project. Monticello will welcome the largest reunion of descendants of Monticello’s enslaved families in modern history and host an original copy of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Manassas Jazz Festival
Manassas Museum, 9101 Prince William St, Manassas, VA | 12pm – 7pm
The annual Manassas Jazz Festival is back for its 14th year! Featuring live jazz music by various musicians, it’s sure to make for a relaxing afternoon! This year’s event will feature Virginia farm wineries, craft breweries, and local distilleries. Feel free to bring out your lawn chairs and blankets, but please leave pop-up tents, canopies, quick-shade, etc. at home.
Non-Taster ($20)
Taster Ticket ($35 in advance/$40 at the door): Includes a tasting glass and tastings at all wineries, distilleries, and breweries at the festival.
Kids ages 13 and under are free to attend.

Lora Kelley’s country/folk sound is a familiar one even upon first listen. Her sophomore self-titled EP is an exploration of her female experience. The lead single touches on the poignancy of grief and the mystery of memory in “Both Hands” a song about the loss of her family’s matriarch. With gentle story-telling lyrics and lilting melodies, this EP is a nostalgic and enjoyable experience for the listener. Ticket price is $10, purchase here.

Is it possible to pair desserts with our favorite mainstream wines? While you may be hard pressed to find anyone upset with the wrong wine and dessert pairing, a little knowledge can come in handy when entertaining guests. After this workshop you’ll have peace of mind knowing that you nailed it the first time! Sample selected desserts and wines and learn why some do and some don’t go well together.
