Part of the mission of Live An Artful Lifeit to inspire us and open our eyes to new and exciting artists and their work. They want to introduce you to these artists and really get the full experience of the art and the passion behind it. On Saturday, September 19th, Live An Artful Life will host a trunk show with nationally known jewelry artist, Sara Rivera. Sara works in the ancient Japanese technique of Mokume-Gane, a 300 year old process that was originally used in the crafting of swords, armor and decorative furnishings. It didn’t become useful in jewelry making for more than 200 years after its birth, but now Mokume-Ganeis coveted for its rich beauty. With its distinctive layered patterns and Sara’s masterful eye for design, this mixed-metal laminate produces interesting and elegant works of art jewelry. Patinas of satin silvers, gold and copper are found throughout Rivera’s custom designed pieces which include collar necklaces, pendants, earrings, rings and bracelets.
Sara will be in the gallery for a personal showing of new work. Come, learn about the Mokume-gane technique and enjoy an evening of new artful, hand made jewelry in a lovely relaxed gallery setting.
