Saturday October 2^nd, between 2 and 6 pm, River District Arts will host an open house with live music by the dynamic duo Beleza Brasil and a solo show by acclaimed Charlottesville painter Matt Kleberg. Terri Lehman from the Thornton River Grill will cater the event.

River District Arts is a new artist collective to open this fall in Sperryville’s River District on 3 River Lane. River District Art’s goal is to provide local artists of all media with studios where they can work in an inspiring environment, promote and sell art, and organize events, classes and workshops. In addition, River District Arts will hold exhibitions of the works of member and non-member artists in the Confluent Gallery of Art. RDA is dedicated to building a relationship with the local community and to be actively involved in promoting creativity among Rappahannock residents of all ages.

RDA is currently looking for artists who are interested in becoming a member and who are interested in renting a studio. Studio spaces will be rented to artists for one year at a time, on the basis of work submitted to a jury. There are 9 studios, which can be rented by a single artist or they can be shared by a group of artists. The open house is a great opportunity to visit the studios, but also to have a sneak preview of the other businesses that have already moved in, or are scheduled to open in the near future.

Rappahannock Central is home to a few of Sperryville’s exciting new businesses including, Rappahannock Natural Foods Coop, Photo Studio 964 and the highly anticipated and soon to open Grand Café Indigo.
