Christmas comes to Middleburg one December weekend out of every year — and every year it’s amazing. Pictured left (photo by Betsy Parker) is a photo taken from last year’s Christmas Parade lead by the Middleburg Hunt. Wouldn’t it be nice to have snow for the parade again this year? *smile*
First of all, if you haven’t done so yet, then be sure to check out the Middleburg Business and Professional Association’s facebook page to keep informed and up to date on all of the festivites!
Christmas in Middleburg will be a two day event, starting with the Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday December 3rd @ 5:30pm. The ceremony will be a The Pink Box Visitor center, 12 N. Madison St. Carols will be performed by local students and refreshments will be provided by the wonderful Home Farm Store. The Christmas Recital will immediately follow the Tree Lighting at approximately 6:30pm at A Place to Be, 15 S. Madison St. The Garden Club’s Christmas and Greens Sale and Bazaar will be from 2pm-5pm and also the following day (Dec 4 — see below paragraph for time).
Saturday December 4th will be full of fun festivities for the entire family! Breakfast with Santa and Silent Auction @ Middleburg Elementary School will be from 8am-10am. The Middleburg Garden Club’s Flower & Greens Sale & Bazaar will be from 10am-4pm at Emmanuel Episcopal Parish House, 105 E Washington St. There will be a Craft Show at the Middleburg Community Center from 10am-5pm.
The annual Christmas Parade led by the Middleburg Hunt will begin at 11am. Watch as the Hunt club parades down Washington Street, a beautiful scene of hounds and nearly 100 horses & riders dressed in red riding coats. Later, you’ll surely be filled with Christmas spirit as the parade ends with the arrival of Santa Claus. If you work up an appetite while enjoying the beautiful parade, head on over to Middleburg United Methodist Church for a Soup & Biscuit Lunch. $8 for adults and $6 for children. Lunch will be served from 12pm-2pm.
