Rappahannock Central, located in Sperryville, VA, is becoming widely known and extremely popular…quickly!
If you are unfamiliar with Rapp Central, then you must check them out very soon. Shop for art and visit artists in their studios at River District Arts (RDA), then head to Cafe Indigo for a healthy, tasty, and locally made meal. Or, if its natural local meat, eggs, produce, fruit and other products you’re interested in, check out the Rappahannock Natural Foods Cooperative (RNF). After all of that shopping, indulge yourself with a wine tasting in the Virginia Wine Tasting Room. All of these businesses are under one roof of a beautifully renovated 30,000 sq ft 1930s Apple Packing House.
While the other sections of Rapp Central are still having the finishing touches added to them, River District Arts is up and running. Beginning May 7th, RDA welcomes artist Larry Chappelear with his Beyond the Landscape–Abstract Assemblage and Impasto Painting exhibit. Larry Chappelear has over 35 years of experience in exploring and observing the landscape and painting on location (plein-air) in Southern Maryland and West Virginia. While Larry has always done traditional landscape, he recently transitioned into merging abstraction with the realities of landscape.
There will be over 20 pieces of Larry Chappelear’s art for you to view at RDA’s exhibit from May 7 – June 12. There will be a Preview Dinner and Artist’s Talk on Friday May 6th. If you are interested in attending please email marilyn@RiverDistrictArts.org as tickets are required to attend the dinner. The Opening Reception in the Confluent Gallery of Art will be Saturday, May 7 from 3-6pm at Rappahannock Central, 3 River Lane, Sperryville, VA. Music and refreshments will be provided.
We’re so excited that Rapp Central is in the Piedmont of Va and we know you’ll enjoy them as well!
